Meet Our Scouting Leader

Brian Bell, Scout MasterFirst, I would like to welcome you to our website.  Troop 61 is one of the oldest, most spirited, and best known Boy Scout Troops in the Kansas City Area.  Since 1925, we have offered opportunities for our scouts to learn leadership skills, with over 300 of our scouts achieving the coveted rank of Eagle Scout.  While we have been doing that our scouts have also had lots of just plain fun.

We are sponsored by Congregation Beth Shalom, but we are also the entire Jewish Community’s troop.  Beyond that, we are one of the most inclusive troops in the city with current or past members from all faiths, including Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, and Muslim.  Because of our long and distinguished history, 3rd generation 61’ers are not unusual.

It takes very little time to see why 61 is so special.  Watch us for a day at summer camp, join us at one of our meetings or at our family turkey hike in November.  See our scout’s enthusiasm at meetings or Courts of Honor and you will quickly realize that 61 is a very special Boy Scout Troop.

If you are a former 61’er, stop by one of our Monday evening meetings are get reacquainted.  If you are looking for a Troop to join, please consider 61.  We have a great bunch of Scouts and we love what they accomplish every week.

Yours in Scouting
